Ms. Horton is a native of North Carolina. She is the youngest of 14 brothers and sisters born to Carl and Ellen Horton. She has two children and two beautiful grandchildren. She is the former small-business owner of a licensed five-star Family Child Care Home of seven years. Ms. Horton holds a B.S. degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, a concentration in Child Development and Family Relations. and an A.A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education. She is currently earning a Master of Education degree in curriculum, Instructors, and Assessment., graduating in December 2024.
